Just Sing'n in the Rain

First part of April we enjoyed a good 9 days with my Mom!  Doing our usual, Chick Flick marathons, lots of grocery shopping, followed by lots of cooking, followed by lots of eating... followed by more laying around and watching more movies!  Sounds divine, doesn't it?!  :)  I think so too!
We always thouroughly enjoy our visits and then go into somber withdrawals for a good week when Grandma leaves!  The kids and I just can't get enough of Grandma!  Thank God she's already got her next flight booked for fall, harvest time... oh boy!  (You know what that means... more great food!) :)
We also managed to squeeze in some good ol' fashioned easter egg decorating and hunting while she was here too!  Thanks again for everything Mom, we still miss you... every day!

hopefully she doesn't have a 'future' as a bunny... but she is pretty cute!

When Grandma comes to town, we get lollipops for breakfast - YUM!!

And we get to make lots of messes!

And get lots of lovens!

Some adorable pics of Maddie that I took durring an impromptu home photo shoot... when I realized she's never worn half the cute things in her closet!

Time to hunt for eggs!!

Maddies 1st Easter Egg Hunt!
Drum Roll please......... Jeff is OFFICIALLY the GM now!  Got his salary bump, got his title!  Tadda!
So proud of our Daddy!  Now if only he can learn to relax and enjoy his achievement ... so far it's been a lot of stress and responsibility...so we'll see!  But he's doing great, and was even number one in the entire company for selling the companies promo cards!  He got to address everyone in a conference call to give the secrets of his great success!  Of course he feels even more pressure now though, with all eyes on him... but he is his own worst critique as we all usually are!

On Tuesday, I stood in line outside the Sears Center here in Chicago for about 4 hours in the pouring rain, to register for Simon Cowel's X Factor Auditions.  He's brought the show to the U.S. from Britian and it's set to air this fall.  I returned on Wednesday, stood in line for 2 hours in the rain again, before I sat for 6 more hours inside to be one of about 8,000 people to sing for my chance at a 5 million dollar recording contract with Sony Records!  There were around 20,000 people there including people's family or friends who came to support!  I sang Ave Maria... did well, they asked for another song so I sang Conte Partiro... they said "Thanks for Coming Out!"  And just like that I was cut!  Kind of a bummer... not that I actually thought I'd win or even make the show, but was hoping to at least make the 1st cut!  Brutal!  But it was a fun if not interesting experience!  I'm glad I did it!  Answered a lot of 'what if's' for me!  Made me feel better about not persuing music further in my 20's and my decision to persue a family instead!  Not only that, but I've also recently discovered I'm in perimenopause, at 31.... fabulous! (sarcasm).  So my chances of conceiving chidren now, even if I wanted to would be much slimmer... so again, so glad I had my babies in my 20's!  Feeling really good about the choices I've made in the time that I made them!  Feeling very blessed as well, to have such a wonderful family!
In the spirit of singing... Jack took much interest in it while I was practicing for the audition, and did a very good rendition of Italian Opera... followed by an encore of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star... for your listening pleasure:

April was full of showers... hoping they bring some May flowers and sunshine!! ♥
