And I have to say, that although I detest the 6am wake up call, and all the homework, packing lunches, etc... it is nice to have a routine again... and oh ya, one child for 8 hours a day!! That's nice too! Plus, the kids are riding the bus this year... so we are all up, dressed, walking the dog to the bus stop just in time to catch this beautiful sunrise every morning!
Not a bad way to start the day, eh?! :)
The boys are doing great at school! Jack has made huge strides in his reading!!
Check out this video to hear him read!
AJ came home with this school project... it made me smile not just for it's content but because there was no mention of his parents divorce over the summer... which to me, was life changing and devastating. Somehow, with the help of my family we've managed to leave the kids with memories, other than that of divorce! Success, if you ask me!
The other nice thing about back to school... is making new friends! Like Corbin and Coby, AJ and Jack's new buddy's on the block! I so enjoyed watching Corbin give Austin skateboarding lessons! :)
Madison turned 4! Can you believe our baby is 4?! Me either!!
For some reason 4 seems so much older than 3?? And she seems to have grown up over night all of a sudden! I'm not sure how I feel about this... I really miss my babies! But It's such a joy to see them grow!
We had a Bubble Guppies themed cake and enjoyed dinner and games at Chuck E Cheese!
I think it was our most successful Chuck E Cheese outing yet... the kids racked in over 1200 tickets!!
They're getting really good at these arcade games! We had a blast! Speaking of Blast, Austin was caught helping a little kid get his tickets out of a machine and helping him put them in his bag.... and so the manager treated AJ and Jack to a free trip to the ticket blaster!
(That's my boy!) ;)
We were so excited, we've never been in the ticket blaster before... goggles on and in they went!
AJ said the tickets kind of hurt when they hit you, they scratch... but it was fun!
She was feel'n the love!
Mommy got her a pony and a fish "Sarah"
Daddy got her a Dora Dollhouse! (and AJ really loves it! Shhh, don't tell him I told you!) ;)
Maddie's Loot!
The kids have really been enjoying their time every other weekend at their Dad's!
This next weekend, Grammy and Gramps are coming to visit and they're taking the kids fishing, something Austin has been asking to do since he was 3 years old, I swear this kid has an old, wise, reincarnated soul! Grandpa Gus, I suspect?!
But anyhow, Austin is SUPER excited!
And I have to say, so am I!
What I once dreaded more than anything (letting my kids out of my sight, for even a mili-second)
has become a much needed and welcomed reprieve! Jeff has really been stepping up to the plate and doing a great job!
I've been able to go out and do things!
I'm singing again... and watching local jazz and blues bands. Making new friends, rubbing elbows... and while I don't want to count any eggs before they've hatched... let's just say I'm collaborating with some really incredible people and hope to be getting paid to do what I love very soon!
I know it's morbid! But when we're in our own pain, it can become blinding and it's easy to get stuck in that! I feel like it's important to look outside of ourselves... what can we learn from history? Other's pains and trials? What can we do to help others now?? Maybe we can protest another senseless war?
OR whatever it is you believe in!?!
It's just nice to have a little time and space to myself again to do what I enjoy and to invest my time in things I believe in. Nothing like real, worldly tragedy to put your own trivial matters into perspective!
I'm also looking into going back to school, finishing my degree. Finally!
Other fun things coming up, Miss America is back in Atlantic City and back on ABC this Sunday!
Can't wait to watch (as I do every year) our new Miss America take that crown!
Love that I have a little princess to watch with me!
Time to pull the ol' crown out, and dust her off! ;)
Mark and Tricia are coming out for Halloween, as they do every year and we're really looking forward to seeing them! Here's a little sneak-peek at what's going on this year for Halloween!
HAHaaaaaa!
Jack says if you mess with my sissy you'll be swimming with the fishes!
AJ will handle the books! ;)
